How to switch

Your web container, your server container and your tags stay as they are. The switch is a DNS change.

Create your container

Paste the server container config from Google Tag Manager, enter the tagging subdomain you use today and pick a region. It takes a couple of minutes.

Set up the loader

Turn on Better Loader. If the scanner finds your current loader script name, enter it so the snippet on your site keeps working; otherwise swap in the snippet we show you.

Point DNS at us and cancel TAGGRS

Replace the A record that points at TAGGRS with the CNAME records we show you. Tracking carries on from the moment DNS updates, and your TAGGRS plan can end at the close of its period.

FAQ

Before you switch

Will my Meta CAPI, GA4 and Google Ads tags keep working?

Yes. This is the standard Google server-side container. Every tag, client and variable, including Community Gallery templates, runs exactly as it does today.

Will I lose data during the move?

No. You set up the container while TAGGRS keeps serving traffic, then switch DNS. Requests reach whichever endpoint DNS points to, so there is no gap.

What counts as a request?

Every request your container answers that came from your own site, tracking hits and the loader script alike. Hits from other domains are not counted, and once you switch on bot filtering, the traffic it turns away stops counting too.

Do I need a card to start?

No. The free plan gives you one active container and 15,000 requests a month, with no card and no time limit.
